Aerial silks, also known as aerial fabrics or tissu, are a circus apparatus that consists of polyester lycra that hangs approximately 22 ft in the air from a sturdy truss. Silks allow the aerialist to train various techniques including climbing, wrapping, inverting, locks and drops. The result of this training is increased strength and flexibility and the ability to be creative while having fun!
(Note: If you are interested in an Aerial Silks class, please sign up online! An aerial silks class consists of a proper cardiovascular warm-up and flexibility training and is followed by guided technique instruction. Class concludes with a brief warm down. Tricks, poses and sequences taught are tailored to the strength and capability of individual students. Class size is limited to 6 people. An online reservation and pre-payment must be made to attend. $35 Aerial Silks drop-in or $300 for a 10-class Aerial Silks pass).
