Gentle Vinyasa

Sima Mehrbod

Sima completed her 200 hour Hatha-Vinyasa teacher training with Angie Poon and Noell Clark. She has spent the summer providing yoga for the downtown community, encouraging residents to patronize St. James Park through the city program; "Summer in St. James." Sima's curiosity of meditation and enlightenment led her into her first yoga class as a teen. Since then her practice has guided her into the present moment, leaving behind the past and allowing the future to bring whatever it has in store. She developed a passion for passing this guidance onto others through the connection of movement and prana. Sima's practice brings to life the importance of our connection to Mother Earth and the Self. She expresses the necessity of kindness, compassion and the essence of all things through mantra, accenting the Yoga Sutras and guidance through asana practice. Her classes are offered to all levels. Sima encourages students' happiness through smiles, breath, asana, awareness and leaving with a heart filled with positivity.

Praveen Ananth

Hailing from Southern India, Praveen is a lifelong student of Sanskrit and Sanatana Dharma philosophy, earnestly seeking to apply its time-tested wisdom to everyday, practical life. He completed his 200-hour Teacher Training with Kia Miller, founder of Radiant Body Yoga (RBY). This intelligent approach combines the technical aspects of Vinyasa postures with breath-focused and mantra-based kriyas (sequenced set of poses) of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Thus able to holistically balance the inward and outward energies of the body and the mind. An engineer and mathematician by trade, with ongoing international corporate experience, Praveen also enjoys cooking, gardening, motorcycling and flying.

Jenn Smith

Jenn is a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher living in San Jose, California. She has been immersed in the practice of yoga since 2006, and received her 200-hour certification with Noell Clark in 2016, upon moving to the Bay Area from Houston, TX. Jenn's practice began as a complement to her physical training as a dancer and athlete, but consistency and growth in practice led her to an elevated state of receptivity, adaptability, and acceptance, which continues to expand and evolve. She holds a B.S. degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin, and has served a wide range of populations in a variety of school, therapeutic, and outdoor settings. Jenn is passionate about making yoga accessible to all bodies, ages, and developmental abilities, and strives to increase access to the practice of yoga for special populations. Off the mat, you are most likely to find Jenn volunteering at a local farm or camping in the mountains. She is a supporter of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, and is committed to creating conversation and understanding around neurodegenerative diseases.

Isha Dwivedi

Isha comes from a land where Yoga originated, but her first encounter with yoga was only in her late 20's, when she accidentally stumbled upon a TV channel that aired yoga classes every morning. Soon after a few weeks of regular practice while watching the show, she realized that yoga is so much more than a physical practice. Isha started to explore other forms of yoga such as pranayama and meditation that helps connect to your inner self. With each yoga practice she was amazed with how her body and mind felt so calm and grounded. The more she learned from her practice the more she wanted to share with people around her and help them deal with the stresses of daily life and feel empowered. Soon she enrolled in 200 hour teacher training program with Noell Clark to deepen her knowledge. After completing her certification in 2017, she started teaching yoga in her neighborhood.
Isha believes that Yoga is an unending process of self-study and exploring your body's potential.
Her classes are a blend of asanas, pranayama and meditation, fit for all fitness levels. She encourages her students to experience each and every pose by providing modifications for different levels of practitioners. Besides teaching yoga, Isha is also a full-time mother.

Alejandro Rivas

Alejandro has been teaching yoga for 12 years and is a Lululemon Ambassador. Yoga has shaped his life tremendously, it allows him to be present in every moment, to not take anything for granted, and to surround himself with amazing friends and family. He teaches Vinyasa Flow and specializes in various types of massages such as Prenatal, Shiatsu, Reflexlogy, Crainiosacrial and Sports Massage.

Jovanna Perez Lydon

Jovanna Perez Lydon is a Bay Area native with of rich Nicaraguan ancestry. She has been dedicated to the meditative practice of Ashtanga Yoga for many years, and recently earned her 200 hours Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Downtown Yoga Shala led by the esteemed Noell Clark. Jovanna is excited to support her students develop a discipline for physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Currently she lives in San Jose with her husband and finds joy in spending time with family, friends and in being of service to the local community and native Nicaragua. She studied, lived and travelled abroad to then earn her degree in International business. She established a corporate career as an accountant, manager and business operation in Silicon Valley for nearly 15 years. She warmly invites you join her Yoga classes taught in English and in Spanish!

Jovanna Perez Lydon es nativa del Area de la Bahía con decendencia Nicaragüense. Se ha dedicado a la práctica meditativa del Ashtanga Yoga desde hace muchos años y recientemente obtuvo su certificacion de Profesora de Yoga Vinyasa por haber completado 200 horas de educaccion preliminarias guiada por la muy estimada Profesora Noell Clark en el Downtown Yoga Shala. Jovanna apoyo a sus estudiantes a que desarroyen una disciplina para la salud y bienestar físico, mental y espiritual. Actualmente vive en San José con su esposo y encuentra gozo en pasar tiempo con familia, amigos y en ser de servicio a la comunidad local y en Nicaragua. Estudió, vivió y viajó al exterior para luego ganar su licenciatura en negocios internacionales. Ella estableció una carrera corporativa como contador, administrador y operación de negocios en Silicon Valley durante casi 15 años. Con gusto le invita a unirse a sus clases de Yoga!

Heidi Sloss

For decades Heidi told herself that she would return to yoga someday. Someday became the day she learned of her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and was reminded of how preciously short life really is. Combining 30+ years of spiritual practice with the moving meditation of yoga, Heidi’s classes help focus the mind, relax the body, connect the spirit and open the heart.
A slower sequence of flowing postures synchronizing breath with movement. Ideal for beginners and intermediate students. Modifications may be suggested for all levels of practitioners.
