Harmony Slater

Harmony Slater has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore method for over a decade. She was first introduced to Yoga in 1995, and began practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 2000. She always had a keen interest in spirituality and the art of physical movement, which culminated in fifteen years of dance training and two BA degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies.

In 2002, she traveled through China researching Buddhist meditation and in 2004 she made her first trip to Mysore, India. That same year she moved to South East Asia where she began a journey of teaching Yoga Internationally, which allowed her to spend long periods of time practicing with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, now the KPJAYI.

Harmony was given Authorization by Guruji in 2006, and was granted Certification by Paramaguru Sharath Jois in 2015. Over the years she co-founded two traditional Ashtanga Yoga Schools in Canada. The first was established in 2009, in Victoria BC, and the other is found in Calgary AB, where she currently teaches and resides. With the birth of her son Jediah, life became full and sweet, and she experienced the dawning of yoga within every aspect of daily living.

April 30, Sunday - Satsang & Primary Series: The Essential Components of Sadhana 6:30-8:30am $35

Primary Series – Strengthening the Connection to Bandhas ... Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha are important keys to the asana practice. This Primary Series class will bring focus to what these "energetic locks" really are and how they can be used to create a greater sense of lightness, balance, and ease of movement. Learn to cultivate a deeper understanding and awareness of bandhas in your practice. Satsang/conference follows after Primary Series practice.

    May 1 - 5, 2017 - 5 Days of Morning Mysore Practice, 6:30-8:30am (Monday-Friday; doors open 6am) All sessions $150 or $35/session

Mysore Style is the heart of Ashtanga Yoga. In the Mysore method, students are met as individuals. Each person is taught progressively according to his or her readiness. A relationship is cultivated with the teacher and the practice begins to grow over time. The Mysore method of teaching and practice is very effective, and a certain power can be transmitted through the teacher to the students. Practicing with a qualified teacher can be a very transformative experience for students who are open to exploring their inner self, using the asana as a tool for this discovery.

Saturday, May 6: Strengthening the Spine and Cleansing the Nervous System 6:30-8:45am $45

A gentle introduction to second series and pranayama practice. Nadi Shodhana is the name given to the Second Series of the Ashtanga Yoga system. However, it is also the name of a beginner Pranayama exercise. In this workshop students will explore the connection of prana (vital life energy) with the cleansing and strengthening of the nervous system through gentle asanas, kriyas and pranayama. These practices will be highly beneficial and accessible to every one, regardless of your level of experience.

*DYS REFUND POLICY -  70% refund if canceled by April 20th. No refunds after April 20.
